How to register to vote
You must register at least 11 days before an election to vote by mail. If you miss this deadline, you can register and vote same-day at any Early Voting or Election Day Vote Center with proper ID. Your options and required identification to register are as follows:
Register Online
You can register online at vote.utah.gov if you have a Utah driver’s license or state ID with your current address on file with the Driver License Division. If your address isn’t current, update it online before registering.
Register by Mail
Download, complete and sign the voter registration form and return it to your county clerk via email, USPS or in person by 5:00 p.m. 11 days before the election to receive a ballot in the mail.. You will need to provide your Utah driver’s license, state ID number or the last four digits of your Social Security number.
Register in Person (Same-Day Registration)
Register to vote in person during Early Voting or on Election Day. You must bring identification and proof of residency. See list of acceptable forms of ID/residency. A poll worker will help you register and cast a provisional ballot.
How to vote
If you are an active registered voter, your ballot will be mailed to you starting three weeks before the election. Didn’t receive your ballot by one week before the election? Immediately contact your County Clerk.
Follow the instructions provided with the ballot. Make sure your ballot is counted by either:
Returning your ballot through the mail. Due to recent changes in voting laws, ballots must be received by the clerk’s office on or before 8 p.m. on Election Day. Ballots received after will not be counted. Check with your county clerk if postage is required, and mail your ballot early to meet this deadline.
Dropping your ballot off at your county clerk's office, a polling location, or a drop box by no later than 8:00 pm on Election Day. Click here and enter your address to view locations near you.
If you did not receive a ballot in the mail, lost or ruined your mail ballot, or want to vote in person, simply visit any voting location in your county of residence. You must bring identification – For a list of acceptable forms, click here or visit VOTE411.org.
