Questions

The League of Women Voters has made every effort to present accurately the candidates' responses as they were submitted.

  1. If elected, what two things do you hope to accomplish as a member of the House of Representatives for the people of Utah ?

Lower gasoline prices and make government work more efficiently for the people of Utah.

  2. How would you address the following issues? (Please answer each question in 200 words or less.)
    - Adequate funding for education, including funding for disadvantaged populations such as non-English-speakers and prison inmates

Everyone wants adequate funding for all sectors of the education system. We can get more funding for education by designating most tax dollars generated from oil shale energy production in Utah. Non-English-speakers must be taught how to speak English. Prison inmates should be required to attend educational classes.

    - Energy resource development and clean air

We must drill here and drill now. We could keep clean air standards at the current level.

    - Water development and conservation

We must always promote water conservation and find better ways to transport water to places that are most beneficial to us.

    - Better communication between elected officials and their constituents

Have more "Town Meetings". Have the elected official answer the telephone rather than a government paid employee.

  3. If the State had a revenue surplus of $100 million, how would you allocate the money? (Response should include $______________ for ________________________________.

$50 million should be placed in a savings account for real emergencies and $50 million should be given back to the taxpayers in the form of a tax refund to help stimulate the economy

Opponents:
