Candidate Background Information

Occupation: Business Executive

Education: BS Business Management

Prior Experience: Over 30 years of corporate level managemnt experience.  I have coporate management experience with Fortune 500 Companies and over a decade of owning my own consulting company.  I am currently the Director of a Private Non-Profit that helps people with disabilites get jobs.

The League of Women Voters has made every effort to present accurately the candidates' responses as they were submitted.

  1. If elected, what two things do you hope to accomplish as a member of the House of Representatives for the people of Utah ?

    Will continue to focus on Education Funding that will improve the quality of education while ensuring our tax dollars are spent wisely in Education.  Continue Tax Reform by reducing Income Tax and Sales Tax on Food in conjunction with my Major Ethics Reform Bill.

  2. How would you address the following issues? (Please answer each question in 200 words or less.)
    - Adequate funding for education, including funding for disadvantaged populations such as non-English-speakers and prison inmates


    Will continue to pursue cost effective ways to reduce class room size, reward effective, quality teachers, and find a more effective way to builds schools than with just property tax. Invest in new educational tools and technology to address educational needs of all students includeing disadvantaged.

    - Energy resource development and clean air

    Continue efforts we have already started to develop renewable energy sources, continue to support the development of oil rich resources in Utah and continue work on carbon sequestration of coal fired power plants to protect our enviroment.

    - Water development and conservation

    Continue to support the development of new water resources such as the Bear River project, and other new reservoir. Work with municipalities on local zoning issues that promote water conservation.  Support Water Improvement Districts that promote water conservation.

    - Better communication between elected officials and their constituents

    Through the use of internet resources, I will continue to communicate with my constituents as this is the most cost effective. News Letters, surveys, etc cost a significant amount of money. I will also continue to promote my email, phone number and mailing address as the most cost effecient way for my constituents to reach me.

    100 million
    Tax reduction for the voters, and funding for education. $100 million represents less than 0.1% of our budget and will not go very far.
