Questions

The League of Women Voters has made every effort to present accurately the candidates' responses as they were submitted.

  1. If elected, what two things do you hope to accomplish as a member of the House of Representatives for the people of Utah ?

I love our state and am proud to be a Utahn.  I am not running with any single issue.  I will be available to constituents to be a voice on the hill and support our common values.

  2. How would you address the following issues? (Please answer each question in 200 words or less.)
    - Adequate funding for education, including funding for disadvantaged populations such as non-English-speakers and prison inmates

As a father, neighbor, and friend of those spoken of in this question I will work passionately to see that there is every opportunity and resource available to insure proper education.  We need to lead the nation in education and have the talent to do so.

    - Energy resource development and clean air

We are blessed to have in our state many natural resources which are in high demand right now.  Our neighboring state is utilizing their supplies to a competitive advantage.  We need to be proactive with this opportunity and protect our environment while doing so.

    - Water development and conservation

I have spent the last few years serving on the Quality Growth Commission of Utah and as a result am very familiar with critical lands.  We need to realize we live in a desert and must not only be aware of our use but prepare to preserve for future needs.

    - Better communication between elected officials and their constituents

Communication is very easy for me.  I can not take on this high responsibility without constant and open dialog between me and the constituents.  I will always be available and open for help and ideas.  Try it out, call or e-mail me 560 6776 jaren@vote4jaren.com

  3. If the State had a revenue surplus of $100 million, how would you allocate the money? (Response should include $______________ for ________________________________.

    100 million

It is our money as citizen's of this state.
