Questions

The League of Women Voters has made every effort to present accurately the candidates' responses as they were submitted.

1. If elected, what two things do you hope to accomplish as a state senator for the people of Utah?

Good Transportation is essential for our citizens.  I'm an advocate of more and better East-West roads in the Salt Lake Valley

Affordable, Portable, and Employer Based Health Care

2. How would you address the following issues?

  • Adequate funding for education, including funding for disadvantaged populations such as non-English-speakers and prison inmate

Making our disabled community a priority for their education needs is a must.  Too many students in a classroom means....Children cannot learn and teachers cannot teach.

  • Energy resource development and clean air

IEnergy comes in different shapes and forms. We need to explore all avenues of our resources.  Wise use and conservation are keys to the future. Clean Air is a critical issue for us all. More efficient cars and use of mass transit will help.

  • Water development and conservation

Utah needs to protect their water sources.  Wise management by our officials and conservation by all is our only solution.

  • Better communication between elected officials and their constituents

I have Town Meetings and use surveys to keep in contact with my constituents.  On all my publications I have my phone number,e-mail, and web site.

3. If the State had a revenue surplus of $100 millions, how would you allocate the money?

25 Million Health Care
50 Million Transportation and Construction
