Questions

The League of Women Voters has made every effort to present accurately the candidates' responses as they were submitted.

1. If elected, what two things do you hope to accomplish as a member of the House of Representative for the people of Utah?

I would like for the voters that have not registered to vote, be able to show up at the polls and register and vote on the same day.

I would like to see that any one that discharges a weapons in the city limits be prosecuted as a felony. This would help stop all the drive by shootings that are happening in our city.

2. How would you address the following issues? (Please answer each question in 200 words or less.)

-Adequate funding for education, including funding for disadvantaged populations such as non-English-speakers and prison inmates

In the State budget there is plenty of money. Those that sit on the appropriations committee need to prioritize education as a top priority for our students and schools, We should not be using tax money to finance the private schools. We should always help those that may be disadvantaged and those that are in lockup. it is in our best interest to have a well educated society.

- Energy resource development and clean air

We as a state should look for ways to bring renewable energy to our state. We have some of the best resources of gas, wind, and sun and should do all we can to make Utah the best in the nation for all the resource we have.

- Water development and conservation.

Being in a state that is the second driest in the nation, we should look for ways to recycle and conserve our water resources. In the northern part of the state we have the best water shed and should do what we can to replenish our reservoirs and help the citizens to realize how to conserve water.

- Better communication between elected officials and their constituents

I believe that an open door policy should always excite between the elected officials and the voters. The voters are the ones that have put us in office and we should listen to them and do the best we can to represent them in all our decisions. I feel that when I became a state representative I am working for the people around the clock and should be available to them at all times.

3. If the State had a revenue surplus of $100 million, how would you allocate the money? (Response should include $______________ for ________________________________.

$100 million - use for some of the money to help take tax off of food. Use some of the money for teacher wages and supplies. Use some of the money to help put more police on the street. Use the rest for vision and dental for the disadvantaged and other state programs.
