Legislative Priorities for the 2010 Legislature

  1. Follow and take appropriate action on any Legislatively initiated ethics reform and attacks on the popular ethics initiative
  2. Follow and take appropriate action on any Legislatively initiated redistricting reform and attacks on the popular redistricting initiative
  3. Elections
    1. Support same day registration
    2. Support use of Medicare cards for voter identification at the polls
    3. Support repeal (if any) of voter identification at the polls
    4. Oppose identification requirements for voter registration
    5. Follow and take appropriate action on the recommendations of the Strengthening Democracy Commission
  4. Education
    1. Oppose budget cuts to public and higher education
    2. Follow statewide equalization changes
    3. Follow and take appropriate action on sex education reform
    4. Follow and take appropriate action on Division of Occupational and Professional Licensing database bills
  5. Oppose restoring the sales tax on food
  6. Support increasing the cigarette tax
  7. Healthcare Reform
    1. Follow and take appropriate action on changes to State healthcare reform
    2. Oppose opting out of Federal healthcare reform
    3. Follow and take appropriate action on abortion bills
  8. Follow and take appropriate action on energy bills
  9. Natural resources
    1. Oppose Snake Valley water transfers to Nevada
    2. Follow and take action reflecting 2009 consensus on water issues
    3. Follow and take appropriate action on land use issues
  10. Other League positions - Take action in accordance with adopted League positions on bills as they come up.
